We, the undersigned parties, uniting together as Eritrean pro-democracy forces, affirm our shared vision to democratize our nation in the post-Isaias Afwerki and People’s Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ) era and to operate as a decentralized democracy in One Congress to bring Justice to PFDJ.
For over 32 years, the Eritrean people have endured profound suffering under the PFDJ’s authoritarian and totalitarian rule. Gross human rights violations, crimes against humanity, and the systematic suppression of democracy, freedom, justice, equality, and individual and group rights have defined this regime.
We are deeply concerned by the disunity and divisions among Eritrean pro-democracy groups in the diaspora. Recognizing that unity and solidarity is essential, we commit ourselves to overcoming divisions, intolerance, and fragmentation.
We recognize Eritrea’s multicultural, multi-religious, multi-ethnic, and multi-regional heritage, affirming that our diversity is a blessing and not a burden. We are determined to build a society free of violence, fear, discrimination, intimidation, hate, and corruption, and instead rooted in justice, fairness, transparency, dignity, and equality.
We acknowledge the findings of United Nations investigations on human rights in Eritrea, which determined that the Government and its officials have committed gross violations, crimes of persecution, and crimes against humanity. We further affirm the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, including their right to self-determination, autonomy, and self-government regarding internal affairs and while honoring the United Nation recoroginzed boarders post 1991 independnce
We unequivocally condemn persecution, crimes against humanity, murder, torture, rape, forced disappearances, expulsions, arbitrary confinement, forcible displacement, destruction of cultural identities, suppression of freedoms, dismantling of livelihoods, and uncompensated land expropriations.
